MOSQUE RESTORATIONS IN AL-QUDS

During its 400-year rule over Al-Quds, the Ottoman Empire constructed thousands of works, the vast majority of which are mosques and masjids. While some still stand, most have been destroyed, and others are being used for purposes other than their intended ones.

The occupying Israeli regime destroyed 1,200 mosques and eradicated hundreds of cemeteries in 1948 alone. Today, numerous mosques continue to be used as restaurants, pubs, night clubs, or shops. Having expelled Palestinian Muslims from their homes upon occupying Al-Quds, the occupiers subsequently enacted the Absentee Property Law to confiscate homes, waqf properties, and mosques. They now seek to seize the remaining mosques under the pretext that they are "unrestored and undeveloped."

By restoring the historic mosques in Al-Quds and bringing them back to our heritage, we extend our hands to protect our mosques that the occupying Israel attempts to seize by rendering them ownerless.

Our primary priority in this project is the mosques under the threat of Israel, while our second priority is other mosques in need of development and restoration. The restoration works, carried out under the supervision of our association, are conducted by an expert commission consisting of an architect, a civil engineer, an archaeologist, an art history expert, and a professor. The materials and supplies used for the restoration are also carefully selected and procured by this commission.

To date, we've carried out the restoration of 46 mosques.

HOUSE RESTORATIONS IN AL-QUDS

In Al-Quds, especially the residential areas closest to Al-Aqsa Mosque, the occupiers are attempting to Judaize the region. Living under difficult housing conditions, Muslims surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque face high-priced offers from the occupying Israel. By forcing Muslims to abandon their homes, Jewish settlers are placed in their stead.
 

Harassment and various intimidation policies are inflicted on those who refuse to leave. The vast majority of Muslim residents of Al-Quds face great difficulties in repairing and maintaining their homes as a result of the heavy financial burdens imposed by the occupation municipality.

Despite everything, we support our Muslim brothers and sisters who refuse to leave their homes and strive to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque, paying our debt of loyalty to them by restoring their houses.

To date, we've carried out the restoration of 89 houses.
